new year's eve

tonight my beloved husband and i are leaving courtney jr and coconut(our two precious twin daughters)with our family "helper" fannie.she has been with our family since 1865 and feels like she is a blood relative.the south has progressed so much!anyway off we go to a 17 course dinner at a very fancy eating establishment in the heart of cordova.next on the agenda is a movie- i am thrilled about seeing "this christmas" but hubby is insisting on the silly new alien vs predator movie.oh,the battle of the sexes continues....we will stop by chili's on germantown parkway-they are having a free champagne toast at midnight with purchase of a bloomin' onion.i hope everyone's night is as good as december 31st 2007 will be for me and my beautiful family.

it would be perfect if tomorrow was sunday.worship would be the best way to start off the new year.

enchanted forest

the enchanted forest is a memphis "tradition" during the holidays.it is a winding path with glittery snow and animated forest creatures that ends with a visit with santa.my granny took me every year when i was a child.it was magical.until yesterday,i had not been in at least 25 years.it was a rough day at work because of a very sad euthanasia of a cat i had met a day earlier but felt such a strong connection with.after 10 years of working in the veterinary field i have developed the ability to appropriately distance myself.or so i thought.so anyway, i decided to go to the enchanted forest to remedy my sadness.bad idea.it was still magical but i was amazed that i had not seen these things for so long.and my granny was not with me.the day ended with 2 xanax and mindless tv.i did pick up some rose quartz at the gift shop to help the needs of my heart.
